I need a single digit and a two digit white/black plate for my collection. Can anyone help me?
Passenger - Regular Issues 1979 to present
From 1979 the familiar ochre-red on
reflective white style with the slogan 'Outback Australia' was
issued. Numbering commenced at 170 000 and as at January 2001 was up
to about 601 000.
The system at the time of change in 1979 was that existing plate numbers could
be surrendered and a new issue 'off the pile' made OR if you wanted to keep the
original number (which could have been from one to six digits) that was remade
in the new style and colour.
Low number Ochre-Red on White plates can be an original remake or could be
re-ordered at a much later date if the number was one which had been
surrendered. The plate then is regarded as a Personalised Plate and
examples are shown on these pages.
