Regional Issues - Special Order   
Regional issues in the Northern Territory are available to all residents of the NT regardless of residential location. The plates are made  in six styles.  All plates depict an image over a full sun and a descriptive slogan.          The plate slogans and images are:

Darwin - Barra Country - Leaping Barramundi fish                        Katherine - Cattle Country - Stockman on Horse
Tennant Creek - Gold Country - Miner                                         Arnhem Land - Best Kept Secret - Pandanus Palm
Alice Springs - The Red Centre - Rider on Camel                         Palmerston - City of the Future - Gecko Lizard

Public Passenger Bus   'MO'

1953 - 1992   Yellow on Black
Various makers resulted in a variety of print styles and an odd plate size.

From 1992  -  Dark Blue on Reflective Gold style used with Outback Australia slogan.

The large 'MO' variety may be an error but there are a number of this type still in use.

Bus plates also available in Personalised style.  'James' and 'VIP' being  local companies.

Public MINIBUS Passenger Bus   'MB'

Minibus - Dark Green on Yellow.  1999
Issued to small shuttle type passenger vehicles with less that 20 capacity.

Dealer Plates - Motor Trader (all vehicle types)

WANTED    Prior to 1953 I am advised that 'Dealer' plates were red on white.

From 1953 Yellow on Black 'permanent' dealer plates issued.
1953-1979     Yellow on Black
From 1980 annual coloured Dealer plates were issued.
1980  White / Brown	1981  White / Green	1982  White / Orange
1983  White / Blue	1984  White / Red	1985  White / Purple
1986 White / Brown	1987  White / Green	1988   Yellow / White
From 1989 annual coloured Dealer plates ceased.  Standard Ochre Red on Reflective White plates issued commencing at #  D 001. Renewal label fixed annually.

Bicentennial Issues  1988

Regular issue Bicentennial.    Sequence 400 000 to 414 999.
Screen print changed at 408 000.

Personalised issue Bicentennial.   All personalised plates have  NT at left.
Up to 4 character combination.

Consular Corps

Government 

Northern Territory Government  'NTG'   All Government plates start with number 8
Plate 800 000 is used on Chief Minister's official car.

For Government cars and trucks.  Two series 800 ### to 814 ###  and 850 ### to 858 ###.

Slogan changed at 812 ### to include 'NT'.

            Motor Cycle.   Mostly for Police bikes.
