  General Issue - Passenger       Motor Vehicle  1921 to 31 May 1955
 
Black 'Q' on white followed by white numerals on black.
 Only rear plate was required but front plate allowed.
1921 - 1929   Q1 to Q100 000
1929 - 1955   Q100 001 to Q687 612
Variations encountered such as riveted, alloy characters as well as later manufacture in plastic

 

        General Issue - Passenger   1955 - 1977

White on Black.
From 1955 two plates were supplied.
First plate issue was NAA 000.
Series Commencing with 'N'. 'P' & 'O' were issued.

[Note: the letter 'I' was excluded as third letter].
Although some plates were issued to trailers with prefix 'NTA' these were recalled and re-issued as general issue (passenger).  The difference is that Vehicle 'NTA' plates have a vertical diamond separator - and the Trailer 'NTA' plates have a horizontal diamond separator.
The recalled trailer plates were replaced by the small 10" x 3.75" plates.

These plates are found with large and small diamond separators

         

General Issue - Passenger - 1 July 1977 to present
  Green on reflective white. Slogan - "Queensland - Sunshine State"

 Format and Series  000 NAA  Alpha series 'N', 'O' & 'P'.
Later series recommenced in format 000 AAA and now continues from that format (alpha commencing A, B etc - as at June 2001 up to 'G'.)
